Sława Harasymowicz
Illustration - Winner 2008
Sława Harasymowicz is an artist living and working in London. She was born in Krakow, Poland, where she studied philology and translation. She graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art in 2006.
Harasymowicz references archival photography, family memorabilia and her own photos, translating these into 'image sets' of drawings, silkscreen prints, paintings, posters and graphic novels. Deriving from the obscure and uncanny, her work often poses questions around history and fiction.
Her work has been shown in the UK and abroad, in group and solo shows and publication projects e.g. Le Gun. She was a member of the jury at the V&A Illustration Awards in 2010, and has had work commissioned by the BBC and the Guardian Weekend on frequent occasions.
Her current projects include Wolf Man, a graphic novel based on Sigmund Freud's case study of Sergei Pankejeff, published by Self Made Hero.
