Fellow Deborah Smith and Han Kang long listed again for Man Booker

  • 'The White Book', by Han Kang and translated from Korean by Deborah Smith is one of 13 titles in contention for the $70,000 prize split between the translator and author. In "The White Book" an unnamed narrator meditates on the death of her older sister, who died as an infant just hours after she was born. The shortlist will be announced on the 12th April with other books including 'Go, Went, Gone' by Jenny Erpenbeck, 'Like a Fading Shadow' by Antonio Munoz Molina, and 'Frankenstein in Baghdad' by Ahmed Saadawi are also in the running.
